STAGES OF DISEASE
A useful test to help determine the stage or advancement of Dupuytren's is the Hueston Table Top test. In
this test, the patient places their hand, palmside-down, on a table. The test is considered positive if the hand
does not go flat, indicating that the disease is in an active or moderate stage.
Dupuytren's can be classified into 3 main stages:
Stage one is early onset, where small nodules or lumps appear underneath the skin of the hand.
In stage two, the condition becomes more extensive, involving the underlying tissue of the palm and the fingers.
The third and final stage is the spread into the fingers and the creation of strong cords that result in the bending
and curling of the fingers.
